How I Automated eCommerce Product Photography & Shopify Uploads with AI

Case Study AI Automation Jaydeep Mayani

Most eCommerce sellers lose days every month to the same repetitive tasks: editing product photos one by one, writing the same CSV rows by hand, and uploading images to Shopify one product at a time. For sellers with high-SKU catalogs - clothing, jewellery, lifestyle goods - this isn't a minor inconvenience. It's a bottleneck that limits how fast a catalog can grow.

I'm Jaydeep Mayani, a Project Manager and AI Automation Builder based in Ahmedabad, India. Over the past year, I've built and shipped automation systems that solve exactly this problem - turning a manual, hours-per-product workflow into a scalable, largely hands-off pipeline. Here's how, and what it actually changed for the sellers who used it.

The Problem: Manual Content Production Doesn't Scale

A typical high-SKU seller faces three repeating bottlenecks:

  • Image editing at volume - every new product needs background removal, color correction, and format standardization before it's publish-ready
  • Data structuring - product titles, descriptions, variants, and pricing need to be assembled into the exact CSV structure Shopify expects
  • Upload logistics - matching the right image to the right product row, one by one, inside Shopify's admin

None of these tasks are hard individually. The problem is volume - doing them 500 times a month instead of 5.

The Solution: An End-to-End Automation Pipeline

I designed two connected systems to remove the manual work at each stage.

1. AI-Powered Image & Video Automation

Using AI image generation and editing tools, I built a workflow that takes raw, unedited product photography and outputs publish-ready eCommerce images and short-form video - automatically. This has been used in production for clothing, jewellery, and lifestyle sellers managing high-SKU catalogs, where manually editing every photo was previously the single biggest content bottleneck.

2. Python-Based Shopify & Catalog Automation

On the data side, I built Python automations that:

  • Generate bulk-upload CSV files in the exact structure Shopify requires
  • Structure and clean raw product data (titles, variants, pricing) at scale
  • Automatically upload the finished product images to the correct Shopify listings

This closes the loop - from a folder of raw photos to a fully live, correctly structured product catalog, with minimal manual touch.

What Changed for Sellers Using This System

  • Time - catalog operations that previously took days of manual editing and data entry now run as a repeatable pipeline
  • Scalability - sellers can add new SKUs without adding headcount for content production
  • Consistency - every image and listing follows the same structure, reducing errors from manual data entry

Who This Is For

This kind of automation makes the most sense for:

  • Fashion, jewellery, and lifestyle sellers adding new SKUs regularly
  • Agencies managing multiple Shopify stores for clients
  • Project managers or operations leads who want to reduce manual bottlenecks without hiring more content staff

Getting Started

If you're running a high-SKU Shopify store and spending more time on content production than you'd like, the fastest place to start is auditing which of the three bottlenecks above (editing, data structuring, uploads) is costing you the most time - that's usually where automation pays off first.
